Game Reviews

Just in case any gamer-type I know hasn’t been to both these websites, I just thought I’d post them. As I enjoy them oh, so much.

And just a little warning, these aren’t for the feint of heart. Sometimes games suck, and sometimes you’ve gotta make up entirely new profanities to express it. It’s just a fact of life, my friends.

Zero Punctuation

The Angry Video Game Nerd

Enjoy.

I know Zero Punctuation, and I enjoy it, despite its extremely obvious shortcomings.

The other is new to me, but I will check it out when I’m not in a hotel room with my wife’s mother and grandmother.

Yes, now would not be a good time.

I’m actually finding that Zero Punctuation is already getting old after a couple of months. I would say that maybe one in three of his reviews make me laugh, and he barely makes me smile most weeks.

Ah, well, even Strongbad and the Ninja miss most weeks, in my opinion.

And, having watched only 1.5 episodes of the Angry Video Game Nerd, I see absolutely no point in watching it. What do you see in him, pray tell?

While there is the possibility of humor, all he manages to do, for the most part, is swear, swear, swear, mock a basic aspect of an old game, make anal reference, swear, swear, make anal reference, repeat.

I think he thinks that swearing is funny and substitutes for jokes. I disagree.

It’s more the method of his swearing, and the nostalgia somehow involved in it all. I must admit that some of the videos are crap, and some of them are amusing crap. Just so you know. But, I must also admit, that it would necessarily be a particular taste.

    To say the least.

See, I didn’t think the swearing was very well done, I thought his timing was off, and his delivery was generic. I only watched the TMNT one (and early one) and the Bugs Bunny one (a late one) and I was already seeing too many recycled jokes.

I will admit that the “you can walk across the hole???” moment near the end of TMNT was funny, but the rest of it had me wondering what was up with the Tourette’s.

On the other hand, I find censored excessive swearing hilarious, so if he was bleeped out, I probably would have been ROFLMAO, but anyone can swear in frustration the way he does.

Zero Punctuation swears a lot, but the delivery is far superior, and the timing adds to the humor, I think.

While I’m not always laughing or smiling at his work, I’m usually at least amused.
