Patrick Stewart Semi-Mega Post!

It has come to my attention that I have of late spent too much time relishing over one particular captain of the Enterprise, and largely ignoring another, who is, purportedly actually my favourite captain. Yes, I know, I am sorry. Though he may not be as iconic, or as rogue, or possibly even as much of a ‘has-been’, he is the one, the only, Patrick Stewart.

This first video kinda caught me off guard. Somewhat surprised that they used precious reel time for this. Though am I ever glad that they did!

The previous video may possibly have been inspired by this video (though entirely unlikely, but useful for a segue (sp?) into this next video):

This next video is just simply brilliant. Patrick making a guest appearance on the British comedy show Extra. Please watch it to the end. The last few seconds are the best.

And if you watched the last few seconds of the previous video, this is great, too . . . I’m going to have to find a few more of these. This smells a bit of repeat gag to me. I’m sure there are more out there.

Here’s a clip you probably have already seen. And if not, well, color me surprised.

Pat has to be my favourite captain as well. It’s only the combination of Spock an McCoy that make the other captain. And oh my goodness, I have to watch the Extra video twice. That was a great laugh. You’re right the last few seconds are the best – so well delivered.

M, that clip was on my list (I had eight to begin with), but it neither made the short list (six) nor did it make the final cut. It was a bit too . . . not the true inerrant, uncontaminated, spoken words of Patrick Stewart . . . for me.

lol those are great! I want him to do the whole alphabet. It would be really great if when he got to Z everyone’s close fell off but it would be too late cause he would have seen EVERYTHING! eh, eh that would be great

While not my favorite captain, I do love the work of Stewart. I love that he’s so willing to be goofy (as evidenced here and in his American Dad guest spots).

    Good stuff, good stuff.

    Who’s your favourite captain, Jon?

  7. February 23, 2008 at 12:54 am

I believe Jon’s fav captain is Sisko from DS9. I think I remember the reason why but I think the man should speak for himself since I could be wrong.

I haven’t really watched enough of DS9, Voyager, or Enterprise to have an opinion on the matter, although I do enjoy me some good ol’ Picard.

Yup, M’s right. My favorite captain is Sisko. One of my reasons, and probably the one M’s thinking of, can be summed up in these three words: he punched Q. That tells you a lot about the character, and I like the direction they took him in (though I haven’t seen the finale, so I don’t know if they made that cheesy).

Also, I just generally like DS9 the most of the various Star Trek series. I like that it had an ongoing story. I liked most of the characters. I liked that there was no galactic cheerleader. It just felt like the characters had more complex motivations than in the other series.

Yeah, as far as the last episode goes, you might want to avoid that. They built it up real good, and just when you’re ready for it all to happen . . . !!! . . . they dump a pile of cheese right on your face. Not pretty.

Picard definitely has to be my favourite. Though I admit Sisko was good, I just never found him emotionally engaging. In such episodes as The Inner Light and Tapestry, Stewart really shines (oddly enough, they’re both episodes where he isn’t with anyone else in the crew . . . and don’t actually take place in any realm of the Enterprise . . . perhaps I don’t just like Picard, perhaps I just have less respect for the show than I thought. And perhaps this parenthetical statement is much too long.).

    lol (perhaps)

But it doesn’t matter, because while you were reading my parenthetical statement, I already saw everything.

I would just like to take an unrelated moment to point out that you have no links to anyone or anything on your site that are not specific to your posts.

This is an oversight in need of correction.

Yes, quite right. I do have said links filled out in my site settings, but unfortunately this template simply does not place them anywhere. As such, I am uncertain of what to do about it, as I am really quite fond of this template.

Just go to your Dashboard -> Presentation -> Widgets

There should be a links Widget there.

We’re almost at a month now. It’s new post time.

Also, I want you to give some input over on the Volara page, as you have yet to say anything on the topic under discussion.
